How golf betting works

At many online sports betting sites, wagers may be placed on major golfing events. There are many different types of bet for the game of golf.

Betting on Golf: The Outright bet

This is a wager that may be placed on a particular player to win a game or tournament of golf.

Betting on Golf: The Place bet

This is a wager that is placed on a player to finish within the top five positions of a golf event.

Golf betting enthusiasts may place wagers on one out of two particular players in a tournament and the bet is won or lost according to the results of these two players only. The outcome of this bet is determined solely on the results of the two players concerned irrelevant of which player wins the actual tournament.

Group betting is also available in golf in which a bettor selects one player out of a particular group of players in a tournament and for the bettor to win, the chosen player needs to get the best result out of the group members. Once again, in this bet the tournament winner is irrelevant and it can be a player not present in the selected group.

Betting on Golf: The Spread bet

Spread betting in golf is also offered at many sports betting locations and this involves placing a wager on a player to score points between a certain range or spread. This perhaps offers more flexibility than an outright player bet and is quite a popular type of wager.
