How hockey betting works

Hockey is perhaps one of the less common sports for betting however hockey betting opportunities are available at many sports betting sites.

Money line bet

As is the case in other sports betting, the money line bet is also available in hockey betting. Wagers are placed on a team to win.

The difference in odds runs according to the favorite team and the team rated as underdog in a particular event. As an example, a favorite may have the odds of +145 and this means that a bettor has to place $145 to earn $100 in the case of a win. The odds for the underdog may be -125 and this means that the bettor has to place $100 in order to earn $125 in the case of a win.

Puck line bet

This is a spread bet and is offered at 1.5 points in hockey. This means that in order to make a winning bet, the selected team needs to win by two goals, that is 1.5 points.

Over – under Hockey bets

Over under bets in hockey are calculated according to the total number of goals scored by both teams. There is also an over-under bet that relates to the total points of one team.

Grand salami Hockey bets

The grand salami bet enables hockey betting enthusiasts to place an over – under wager on the total of goals scored in all the games played on that same day.

In hockey betting, different bets may be placed on the whole game or on separate periods of the game.
